In a series of anti-narcotics operations, police in West Bengal seized 124.3 kg of ganja and arrested six individuals in three separate raids conducted between February 19 and 20. The arrests took place in Bagnan, Saktigarh, and Sahebganj, with all accused booked under various sections of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The first operation was carried out under Bagnan PS Case No. 100/25, where police raided Pipulyan Madhya Muslim Para at 2:09 AM on February 19. Sk Sakiul Ali of Ghoraghata and two others were arrested, and 61.2 kg of ganja was recovered from their possession. Authorities are examining their role in a possible larger supply chain.
Later the same day, under Saktigarh PS Case No. 40/25, police arrested Mithu Paswan of Sadarghat near Saktigarh Graveyard at 11:45 PM. The raid resulted in the seizure of 23.235 kg of ganja, and the accused was booked under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C), 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act. Officials are investigating the source and intended destination of the consignment.
The final operation was conducted on February 20 at 3:30 PM, under Sahebganj PS Case No. 83/25. Pradip Barman of Haribhanga and one other individual were arrested at Khattimari near Daspara, and police confiscated 39.9 kg of ganja along with a vehicle (WB79-2361). Authorities are probing possible inter-district smuggling networks linked to the case.
